Certificate of Achievement in Online Pedagogies
Course Objectives:
The current trends in Higher Education emphasise student-centred learning and teaching that is underpinned by constructivist approaches. This professional development course is developed to support educators to acquire knowledge and skills to utilise online tools for blended learning delivery modes that are student-centered, using Learning Management Systems. The course will support participants to appreciate instructional technologies and be able to develop digital learning content as well as facilitate learning through virtual platforms.
Exit Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this short course, participants should be able to:
- Identify and analyse the philosophical underpinning of learning and teaching in Higher Education and
- Compare and contrast between teaching in the face-to-face classroom and teaching online.
- Distinguish instructional design approaches for online courses and how instructional designers and subject matter experts collaborate in the design and development of online courses.
- Apply the principles of constructive alignment to the planning and design of an online course.
- Demonstrate best practices for developing and presenting learning content in online courses.
- Apply strategies and best practices for facilitating online courses and managing time for regular learning tasks.
- Develop an assessment strategy for an online course.
- Apply various types of assessment methods suited for the online environment.
- Use a variety of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle and tools for developing learning content and assessment activities.
