Hwawei Namibia, a UNAM Industry partner, recently held a networking event on the 30 May 2024, to showcase their new offices situated along the Independence Avenue, Nedbank Building. The event was well attended by stakeholders and partners of Hwawei Namibia, including representatives from the University of Namibia and NUST. Hwawei, has onboarded UNAM students for practical attachments since last year, and they are currently engaging the University of Namibia, for a possible introduction of the Huawei ICT Academy and technology labs.

The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT)’s, Learning and Teaching Enhancement (LTE) section, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) unit recently successfully hosted a short course on Strategic Public and Private Procurement from 15 – 19 April 2024. The bespoke short course was attended by 29 participants from the private and public sector, including UNAM staff members. The participants were awarded with Certificates of Participation which were handed over by CILT Director, Dr. Maggy Beukes-Amiss and CILT Deputy-Director (LTE) Dr. Frans Persendt. The two organisations have been taking in UNAM students for practical attachment, particularly from the Engineering , Food science and Fisheries students. The signing ceremony, graced by the respective heads of UNAM, NOVANAM, and MR&ES, marked a pivotal moment for higher education, and forged an essential alliance with the two respective organisations on work-integrated education.

A workshop was held on the 28th of October 2022 to consult the UNAM Short Course Campus Based Representatives and short course focal persons, including the Registrar, Prof Erika Maass. The aim of this 1 day workshop, was to discuss challenges relating to short courses and gain input into the revision of the Policy on Short Courses.
