Learning analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis, and reporting of data about learners and their
contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs (Long
& Siemens, 2011). Learning analytics can generate actionable insights to help understand and optimise learning
experiences, improve student outcomes and ultimately, boost student success (SEAtS Software, 2024).
This Webinar seeks to:
1. Explain the value of learning analytics in learning and teaching
2. Discuss the importance of an institutional learning analytics strategy
3. Discuss ways in which the use of learning analytics can support student success
4. Provide guidance on how learning analytics can be used in a learning management system like Moodle
5. Share examples of learning analytics practices from institutions in Southern Africa
